A mother received an unexpected confidence boost after being asked for ID at her local supermarket - despite being 50 years of age. Abbi Franklin, from Guildford, Surrey, has been facing difficulties accepting her age since celebrating her milestone birthday in March. However, a routine errand turned into a surprising pick-me-up when a cashier at a Co-op convenience store insisted on seeing ID before allowing her to purchase tobacco. The mother-of-two - whose daughters are aged 17 and 23 - had to step out of the store to fetch her handbag, which she'd left with her youngest in the car.
