In the last three years or so, the WNBA has experienced explosive growth, and there are no two ways to look at it.
At the center of it has been Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, who has brought millions of new eyes to the league.
While Clark's on-court ability has played a crucial role in it, ex-NBA star Gilbert Arenas seems to think that the Fever star is using a clever off-court strategy as well.
During a recent episode of the 'We Said What We Said Show,' Arenas shared his thoughts on Clark and W tapping into the 'untouched' marketing dollar.
"The ones who are marketable understand where the dollar is. The dollar is sexuality. I'm going to maximize it.
"Caitlin Clark, right? In reality, how she reacts and looks, you're like, 'Nuh!' Now she is wearing little shorts; now you see her posting her yoga stuff," Arenas said.
He added, "She's trying to tap into that dollar that's been untouched for a very long time. There's a bigger problem on the court that the marketing dollar is looking at, but everyone's scared to touch.
"It has nothing to do with sexuality, but it's the only sport that does it and they don't realize it. You're doing something on the court that is frowned upon from families and it comes natural to you."
Arenas' comments are certainly sensitive, and they could easily spark a massive debate in the WNBA community.
After all, he has placed a major accusation on one of the faces of the league in Clark.
