On Friday, Oct. 23, the National Motorsports Press Association announced its 2027 Hall of Fame class , with Busch among four figures selected for induction. His older brother, Kurt Busch, will be honored alongside him, making the announcement especially meaningful for one of NASCAR's most accomplished racing families.

Former NASCAR executive Mike Helton and four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Rick Mears round out the class.

The four inductees will be celebrated Jan. 23, 2027, during the NMPA Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Concord, North Carolina.

Few brothers have accomplished what Kyle and Kurt Busch did at NASCAR's highest level.

Kyle, who died in May at age 41, won two Cup Series championships and 63 races in NASCAR's premier division. His success extended well beyond Sundays, with 102 victories in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and 69 in the Craftsman Truck Series.

His 234 combined victories across NASCAR's three national series remain the all-time record.

He also captured the 2015 and 2019 Cup championships, building a career that placed him among the most successful drivers of his generation.

Kurt's accomplishments are equally deserving of recognition.

The older Busch brother won the 2004 Cup Series championship, collecting 34 victories during a career that spanned more than two decades. His résumé includes a victory in the 2017 Daytona 500, one of NASCAR's most prestigious races.

Kurt was also selected for the 2026 NASCAR Hall of Fame class.

Their upcoming NMPA induction will bring the brothers together in another chapter of their family's racing legacy, although Kyle will not be there to celebrate the honor.

The NMPA's newest class also recognizes two influential figures whose contributions reach far beyond NASCAR's victory lane.

Mike Helton, who served as NASCAR president from 1999 to 2015 before becoming vice chairman, helped guide the sport through a period of major expansion and significant safety changes.

Rick Mears, meanwhile, remains one of the most accomplished drivers in Indianapolis 500 history.

Mears won the prestigious race four times, in 1979, 1984, 1988 and 1991, a record he shares with A.J. Foyt, Al Unser and Helio Castroneves.

The four honorees represent different generations and disciplines of American motorsports, but the selection of both Busch brothers carries particular emotional weight.

For Kyle's family, friends and longtime supporters, the induction offers another opportunity to celebrate a career that left a lasting mark on NASCAR .
