Three people have been found dead inside a residence in Mount Holly, New Jersey

A postal worker alerted authorities after finding a note on the door requesting emergency help

Authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the public as the investigation continues

Police are investigating the deaths of three elderly people at a New Jersey home.

On Friday, Nov. 6, police were called to a residence on Winding Way in Mount Holly after a postal worker found a note on the door asking to call 911. Authorities then found three deceased individuals inside the home, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office (BCPO) said in a news release on Facebook.

The Mount Holly Police Department (MHPD) responded to the scene. They confirmed the discovery after responding to “a report of suspicious activity” at the home.

“Upon arrival, our officers discovered three deceased individuals inside the residence,” the MHPD said in a news release on Facebook. “Officers immediately secured the scene, and an investigation was initiated in coordination with the BCPO.”

The handwritten note read, ‘9-1-1 Inside,’ with two sad faces drawn at the bottom, NBC10 Philadelphia reported. It is not known who left the note outside the residence.

Neighbor David Babock told the outlet that the victims were two brothers and a sister in their 60s. Authorities have not released the names of the victims or any possible suspects at this time.

“They were very nice. They didn’t bother anybody,” Babock told the outlet..

He said he “wasn’t really” surprised at the incident, adding, “But we didn’t think it would be that. We thought the house would get condemned and then they would send them to a group home.”

The BCPO and MHPD said that there is “no threat or danger to the public in connection with this incident” at this time.

“I want to reassure our residents that, based on the preliminary investigation, there is no ongoing threat to public safety,” Mount Holly Police Chief Clifford Spencer said. “The MHPD is working closely with and fully cooperating with the BCPO as this investigation continues.”

“...I want to assure you that the safety and security of our residents remain my highest priority,” he continued, adding, “My thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident.”

An investigation is ongoing.
