Arsenal star Bukayo Saka 'not world-class yet,' reckons Rio Ferdinand | JCM1Q1F | 2024-02-13 16:08:01
Rio Ferdinand is a fan of Arsenal star Bukayo Saka, but shouldn't be ready to simply accept that he is world-class, eager to see extra of the winger within the Champions League.
Saka is having another great season with the Gunners, scoring 13 objectives in all competitions as they problem on multiple fronts.
The England winger has began to construct his Champions League expertise, racking up 5 appearances in the group stage and will certainly be involved as the Gunners return within the last 16 towards Porto.
Ferdinand has been impressed by the 22-year-old, not just this season, but ever since he burst into the Arsenal first workforce within the 2019-20 marketing campaign.
Nevertheless, he doesn't need to dish out the 'world-class' tag too readily and thinks Saka has extra to show to earn that distinction.
'Not yet,' Ferdinand stated on Vibe with Five on Saka's world-class credentials. 'Pay attention. I feel Saka's been unreal.
'I truly assume he wants a little bit of a relaxation, so many games for a young kid. However I feel, it's virtually like what's world-class? He hasn't accomplished it within the Champions League, has he? I'm speaking within the nitty-gritty levels.
'Saka's prime, don't get me flawed. He's not world-class yet.'
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry had an analogous assessment of Saka, speaking on Amazon Prime earlier this season.
'You don't need to win a Premier League title to be world-class,' stated Henry. 'For me, I feel he's going in that path if he isn't already there. Gamers that discover a method to be effective, no matter what you throw at them. They should be world-class.
'There's a thought process in what he does all the time. When a player performs with the mind. He's going to be ahead of the game.
'Before it was 1 v 1. Then it turned a 1 v 2, now it's a 1 v three. You see the picture and it's a 1 v 4. So, you want to discover a method and I'm going to repeat. The brain is a strong thing and he has one.'
