Rio Ferdinand has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo advised him not to worry about Diogo Dalot when he raised considerations over the Manchester United star.
Dalot has been in impressive form for the Red Devils and Ferdinand has praised the 24-year-old full-back for his current performances.
But former United defender Ferdinand was not all the time convinced by Portugal international Dalot and wanted Ronaldo to reassure him about his potential.
'Dalot needs a special mention,' Ferdinand stated on his podcast on Monday. 'He's somebody I doubted early-on.
'I keep in mind chatting with Cristiano Ronaldo and stated, 'Is he really that good?' – and Cristiano stated he will work exhausting, make himself higher and 100 per cent enhance.
'He saw it behind the scenes so he knew that. I stated to Darren Fletcher once I was at the training floor the other day that he has really impressed me.
'Darren stated that he is a worker, he's going to make himself the player he needs to be.

'I still assume defensively he in all probability needs to work a bit bit. But yesterday I assumed he was excellent defensively (towards Aston Villa).
'With the ball, that cross, if we have now players operating on to them, the forwards will make the runs and we'll score extra objectives.'
Dalot has made 139 appearances for United so far since he moved to Previous Trafford from Porto in 2018.
