It's a long-running concern that the robust perfume rolling out of Lush outlets on our high streets can depart buyers with a headache.

However one dad who thought he was feeling unwell because of the fragrant tub bombs was truly struggling a stroke.

Gary Smith blamed the 'intense' odor in Lush for giving him a splitting headache while he bought tub bombs for his wife – however he realised the state of affairs was extra critical when he tried to purchase painkillers.

Gary, 52, left the Lush department in Stone, Kent, together with his daughter Rebekah Eller to purchase pain aid at a nearby Boots.

But as he walked over to the pharmacy his left eye's imaginative and prescient turned blurry, and when he tried to select up a field of tablets he couldn't handle it 'like his arm was frozen'.

Rebekah drove Gary to hospital the place checks revealed he'd suffered a serious stroke – which a specialist informed him had killed around an eighth of his mind.

Gary, from St Albans in Hertfordshire, stated: 'Once I was in Lush I had a headache and I discovered it overpowering.

'I was getting intense senses and you don't need that because it's going to make it worse.

'Once we left to go to Boots I observed I'd started to lose imaginative and prescient in my left eye. It was like I had a smudge on my windscreen and couldn't see via it.

‌'In hindsight this was the point I should have stated I have an enormous drawback here, however I didn't and we carried on to Boots and things started to go massively downhill.

‌'Once I went to select up the field my arm went in the direction of it however I couldn't decide it up. It was like my arm was frozen. I wasn't in pain nevertheless it wouldn't work. I was confused.

‌'I put the bathtub bomb down and picked the box up with my other hand to tuck it beneath my arm but as soon as again it wouldn't work.

‌'At this point I misplaced spatial consciousness and Rebekah asked me "what's up?". By that point I was fearful.

‌'It was as if I used to be drunk. Every part is just not doing what you need it to do. You'll be able to see stuff however every thing's a bit fuzzy.

‌'Once I noticed a specialist weeks later he informed me I'd had an enormous stroke and that people who have this often have permanent paralysis and that was an enormous shock.

‌The engineer insists he doesn't smoke or drink closely and was informed he doesn't have excessive cholesterol or high blood pressure.

‌Gill Eldridge, assistant store supervisor on the Boots store, stated: 'When the client described his signs, I immediately thought it seemed like a stroke and so referred to as 999 right away.

‌'It is great that he's now elevating awareness of his expertise to help others perceive the indicators and signs.'
