A British tourist saw his dream vacation turn right into a nightmare after a horror motorcycle crash.

Lee Francis, 54, was visiting his daughter in Thailand when the bike he was on together with his spouse crashed into a metallic barrier they usually have been thrown off the car.

He fractured his backbone in three locations and is now paralysed from the waist down. He was informed the one cause he survived was because he was sporting a helmet.

Speaking from hospital in Cardiff after being flown residence on a stretcher, Lee stated: 'It was quite traumatising being in hospital in Thailand.

'I used to be in a variety of excruciating pain, especially the primary hospital I was in, and I had a bit of trauma coming house on the aircraft. Back in Wales, particularly on this ward, they're phenomenal and have been really good to me.

'I've had loads of checks they usually have continued to sadly give me the analysis that I couldn't walk again.

'It's going to be a little bit of an extended process and it's devastating news as you possibly can imagine.'

His daughter Katie Francis, who has been travelling around the globe together with her companion for six months, told Sky News: 'We have been driving back to the villa and all I keep in mind is the street circumstances have been actually dusty.

'She supported me for days and days in the hospital, but now I haven't seen her for 3 or four days because she will't are available. She's going by means of it emotionally.'

Lee has since warned individuals to put on protecting gear while driving motorbikes and to think twice about getting the suitable journey insurance.

His household is now raising money on GoFundMe to help them pay for their house to be tailored for a wheelchair. It had raised greater than £10,000 on the time of publication.

'If I'm in a wheelchair, perhaps I can still help out with an area basketball club, hopefully coaching,' he added.
