A six-year-old woman has died in hospital after a collision on the M6 in County Westmeath earlier this month.
The Gardai announced right now that she died nine days after the crash after being taken to Temple Road Youngsters's Hospital with critical injuries.
Police are still appealing for more information about the crash.
A spokesperson stated: 'Gardai at Mullingar proceed to& examine a critical single-vehicle street visitors collision that occurred shortly before 4pm on Thursday, February eighth, 2024, on the M6 eastbound between Junction 4 (Tyrellspass) and Junction three (Rochfortbridge) in County Westmeath.
'A six-year-old woman, who was a passenger within the automotive and suffered critical accidents, was pronounced deceased at Youngsters's Health Ireland at Temple Road on Saturday,& February 17th, 2024.
'The Coroner has been notified, and preparations are being made for a post-mortem examination. Two different occupants in the automotive at the time, a person in his 40s and a boy aged 9 years, escaped critical injuries.
'Gardai in Mullingar are renewing their attraction for witnesses. Those with digital camera footage (including dash-cam) from the M6 between Junction 3 and Junction four on the time of the collision are urged to offer this footage to investigating GardaÃ.'
