CUSTOMERS have been divided after a clothing chain announced they were closing all 540 of its locations.

With less than six weeks before the chain shuts down for good, Rue 21 customers have slammed the company with how they are handling its store closures.

Some customers have slammed the company, due to how the company treated its employees[/caption]

"Rue21 is a bastard company and deserves what it got. Not telling any of your employees that you're shutting down till the day of is despicable. I hope whose decisions that was never finds another job," one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Rue 21 was a horrible store that should have been shut down years ago," another person commented.

"Rue 21 blindsiding all their employees like that is crazy," a third person wrote.

However, other's felt like the writing was on the wall before the major announcement.

"Rue 21 closing doesn't surprise me." one person wrote.

"Yall really complaining about Rue21 going out of business and not telling employees as if 1. That is not normal 2. They have ever shopped there in the first place," another person wrote.

"Working at Rue21 and seeing hours cut, no customers and a clean store was your sign they were done."

The closure will effect almost 5,000 staffers across the United States.

This is the third time the company has filed for bankruptcy in the last 25 years, Bloomberg reported

Rue 21 is reportedly in $190 million worth of debt, according to court documents seen by Reuters.

With a few weeks left before the company shuts down for good, the stores are holding liquidation sales to get rid of remaining stock.

'WE'RE CLOSING'

Rue 21 is not the only retailer shutting its doors.

The cosmetic store, Ulta, has announced that it's closing its  San Francisco location at the East Bay Bridge Center.

The store alerted customers about the closure by putting a small sign on its door.

"We're closing this location on Saturday, May 4," the sign said.

The nearest Ulta store from this location is roughly 30 minutes away, which upset customers.

"Nooooo I love having an Ulta so close," one customer said on an Instagram post by @evilleeye.

"We were just there on Saturday and had no idea. This sucks," another said.

"I heard other stores are closing throughout the state," a third warned Ulta fans.

The store is having a sale of up to 90% off to get rid of the rest of its inventory.
