We're bear-y sorry to bring you the news that our Redmond, Oregon diner has permanently closed for business," they wrote.

"We hope you'll visit any of our 158 other locations across 13 states.

"We look forward to seeing you again soon!"

Diners flocked to the comments to probe the abrupt closure.

"Oh wow, I had no idea," one customer wrote.

A second queried, "What happened??"

The U.S Sun previously reported how the chain pulled the plug on its Oakland, California, store in October 2023.

The outlet was located in a notoriously crime-riddled area of California.

Between 2019 and 2023 the Black Bear Diner's address experienced 643 reported criminal incidents, including 536 reported car break-ins, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

One Trip Advisor reviewer wrote about their dangerous experience eating at the diner, they titled the review "Beware–don't eat here, it's not safe!"

"We ate breakfast here on Saturday at 10 am while en route to the Oakland airport," Andy I. wrote.

"We were there for maybe 30 mins and our car was broken into and all our luggage was stolen as it was parked right across from the door," they continued.

"Oakland police wouldn't come and just said file an online report. DO NOT GO HERE IT'S NOT SAFE!!!"

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Black Bear Diner for comment.

STORE OPENINGS

But it's not all bad news for the casual restaurant chain.

The diner has expanded its US footprint with the opening of three new locations, two in Texas and one in Arizona.

Black Bear Diner CEO Anita Adams said: "The opening of these three locations has launched us into 2024 with remarkable momentum.

"These openings align with our strategic expansion plans and are a testament to the unwavering dedication of our franchise partners, and team members across the country.

"Our goal remains clear: to bring our unique offering of home-style comfort food and unparalleled guest service coast-to-coast."
