A FORMER Costco worker has shared their shock after seeing a customer successfully return a hot tub after it had been used.

The store has a famously generous returns policy, but some customers have been accused of taking liberties.

One reported seeing a member get a refund on a hot tub they had already used[/caption]

The Reddit community r/Costco is an unofficial place for both fans and employees of the store to share their frustrations or their excitement about what's happening at the wholesale club.

A recent thread has turned into a space for members and workers to vent about the store's 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Although most Costco shoppers use the policy honestly, some have reported seeing others take it to its extreme.

One former employee recalled seeing a customer return an old hot tub for a full refund.

"My warehouse took back an old hot tub still half full of water that leaked all over the dock, and a 12 year old outdoor play set that was falling apart and had a nest of baby spiders from the same member last week," the ywrote.

The worker said that if it were up to them, the store would deny a lot more refunds than they do.

"I could never," they wrote.

Another commented: "Employee here, this s**t happens all the time!"

This worker said the post-holidays season was particularly bad for returns.

"Back when my store still sold the live Christmas trees, droves of people would return dead ones the day after Christmas, that was always great."

COSTCO'S POLICY

Costco offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

That means any product can be returned at any time for a full refund for any reason.

Even half-eaten food can be returned simply because the customer didn't like it.

However, exceptions apply for electronics items, which have a 90-day returns window.

REFUND DENIED

One Redditor recently reported seeing a fellow Costco member have their return denied after they tried to take back a 15-year-old sofa.

But what the customer did next was shocking.

They just dumped it outside the store, a photo showed.

"People have no shame," commented one.

See why one Costco member was denied a refund on their MacBook even though all they received was an empty box.

And find out why three states still don't have a Costco.
