Manchester United are expected to make an improved offer after Everton dismissed their opening bid of £43million for Jarrad Branthwaite. United proposed a fixed sum of £35m with a further £8m in add ons for the England international which has been deemed unacceptable by Everton. The Goodison club have been insistent the 21-year-old is not for sale but there is recognition that a huge offer would have to be considered against a backdrop of financial uncertainty.
