Ghostbusters premiered on June 8, 1984, a perfect early summer offering (PEOPLE's review called it "irresistible nonsense") that has since become a beloved cultural touchstone, producing countless sequels and product lines and one very catchy theme song. Anchored by stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson and Sigourney Weaver, and directed by Ivan Reitman, the movie went on to make $300 million at the box office.
