Wanda Sykes had an instant connection with her wife, Alex Sykes. The pair first met in 2006 on a trip to Fire Island. During a November 2018 interview with The Guardian, Wanda recalled her first impression of her future wife: "Something really said to me — like, audibly — 'Wow, that's what you need, Wanda.'
