Joe Root is now the eighth most prolific batsman in the history of Test cricket after moving ahead of Shivnarine Chanderpaul on Sunday. Root passed Chanderpaul's career total of 11,869 runs moments after registering his 94th Test half-century for England. The 33-year-old Yorkshireman's latest 50-plus knock came against Chanderpaul's old side as England looked to set the West Indies a big target in the second Test at Trent Bridge.
