West Indies' No 11 Shamar Joseph had just mowed Gus Atkinson for a leg-side six when an even shorter ball caused his eyes to light up. This one went further still, hitting the roof of the Larwood & Voce pub behind deep square leg and causing several tiles to cascade on to spectators below. No one was hurt, though Atkinson's pride had taken a blow. When Joseph top-edged another pull next ball, collecting four more, it was clear we were deep into territory beloved of the batting side and bemoaned by the bowling: the game-changing last-wicket stand.
