Sadie Dingfelder was in the grocery store when she first realized her occasional difficulty recognizing people was more a problem than a quirk. Trailing behind her husband Steve through the aisles of a Safeway, she noticed he picked up a jar of store-brand peanut butter from the shelf, to which she asked, 'Since when do you buy generic?' In answer, the man she thought was Steve jumped, his face contorted in a mixture of confusion and horror.
