Police have launched an investigation after a suitcase stuffed with human remains was pulled from a New York river. The shocking discovery was made yesterday at around 5.30pm near Governor's Island after officers recovered the piece of luggage from the East River, according to the New York Police Department's Harbor Unit. The suitcase was taken for examination, but it was not immediately clear if the remains were those of a man or a woman.
