Shannon Elizabeth shares vision for 'American Pie' comeback: 'I think that would be so much fun'

Shannon Elizabeth is open-minded about returning to theAmerican Piefranchise.

In an interviewFox Newspublished on Sunday, the 52-year-old actress reflected on playing sexy foreign exchange student Nadia and noting what a possible return for her character looks like.

"I would love to see a film where it’s all about Nadia back in her home country and what she does there, and following her around, seeing her day-to-day life now," Elizabeth said, referring to Nadia being back in Czechoslovakia. "I think that would be so much fun."

The firstAmerican Piefilm follows a group of high school students who make a pact to lose their virginity before graduation.Jason Biggs'Jim has high hopes to hook up with Nadia, who is considered one of the most attractive girls at school.

Elizabeth also shared how, despite her background in modeling, she was pretty terrifiedwhen trying to first land a rolein the raunchy comedy.

"The audition process forAmerican Piewas difficult," Elizabeth recalled. "I was scared. I was really scared."

Playing Nadia in both the original film and its sequelAmerican Pie 2plus the 2012 followupAmerican Reunion, Elizabeth said one of the most anxiety-inducing scenes for her is also one of the film's most iconic ones — when Jim dances to the Barenaked Ladies hit "One Week" while stripping off his clothes on a video call with Nadia.

Elizabeth revealed her audition required her to do the dancing instead, noting "I had to dance for Jason instead of him dancing for me."

"I’m not somebody [who’s] super comfortable in my own skin, to be honest," she added. "But, you just overcome that. When you have to turn it on, you have to work, because I do love working. I do love acting. So you just let everything else go."

Elizabeth's memorable portrayal of Nadia helped her land a role in another iconic franchise,Scary Movie. She's also appeared inTomcats,Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,Thirteen Ghosts, andLove Actually.

Biggs has mentioned he's open to rebooting the franchise as well, telling theNew York Postin March that "there's always rumblings.""I can tell you that I’d love to get back with everybody and do another one if it’s the right story," Biggs added. "And honestly, I feel like enough people ask and there’s enough fans. Nostalgia is big right now."

Meanwhile, Elizabeth is focused on conservation efforts. After moving to South Africa in 2016, she launchedThe Shannon Elizabeth Foundation, a nonprofit focused on protecting endangered species and critical habitats.
