'3 Body Problem' finale: 8 burning questions we have for Season 2
'3 Body Problem' finale: 8 burning questions we have for Season 2

After eight mind-bending episodes, Netflix's 3 Body Problem has come to an in depth for Season 1. Whereas the finale answered most of the complicated questions fuelling the collection, showrunners David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo left a lot unsolved for Season 2.

What plan to save lots of the world will Saul Durand (Jovan Adepo) provide you with as a newly minted wallfacer? What is going to happen to Will Downing's (Alex Sharp) mind, floating by way of area? We saw Tatiana Haas (Marlo Kelly) placing that alien VR headset on, but what precisely did the San-Ti need to show her? Will Auggie Salazar (Eiza González) stay atoning for her weaponised nanotechnology or will she return to her bestie Jin Cheng (Jess Hong) to help save the world?

Let's dig into the burning questions we have now for 3 Physique Drawback Season 2, in no specific order, as a result of every little thing is chaos. While you will see that spoilers for the ending of Season 1, importantly, you won't find spoilers in right here from Liu Cixin's books, on which the series is based on. So that you're protected to learn on if you have not learn them!

1. What's the San-Ti's actual plan?

OK, so we know the technologically advanced alien race referred to as the San-Ti hail from an unstable three-body star system four mild years from Earth, where, in response to the San-Ti AI warrior (Sea Shimooka), "There'll ultimately be a cataclysm from which we can't recuperate. Our planet will probably be ripped in half. Or pulled into one of the suns. Or expelled into area perpetually." They responded to Dr Ye Wenjie's (Rosalind Chao) transmission in the '70s, decided Earth appeared like the superbly secure new house, built a 1000-ship-strong fleet and hit the intergalactic street — leaving a number of the San-Ti behind, which is the place the "if considered one of us survives, all of us survive'" mantra comes from.

Working with the Earth-Trisolaris Organization (ETO), the San-Ti then turned afraid of humanity via their discovery of deception whereas discussing Little Purple Driving Hood with oil magnate Mike Evans (Jonathan Pryce). They then threatened to kill humanity's scientific progress lifeless, scaring the shit out of everyone with their sophon sentient supercomputer and worldwide surveillance. However what's their actual plan once they finally get to Earth in 400 years? Will they enslave the human race, destroy it solely, or come to the negotiating desk?

</div>  <hr class="mx-auto w-full border border-gray-100" style="max-width:48rem !important;">

In episode 4, Wenjie tells the ETO she genuinely believes the San-Ti are coming to show humanity "the way to survive and thrive". However the aliens are perplexed by humanity, claiming they've "ceased to be afraid" as a species. "You contacted one other planet. Is that this the act of a timid species?" the San-Ti asks Evans in episode three. "A scarcity of worry leads to extinction. If your ancestors had followed the fearless, you wouldn't exist. Humanity should study to worry once more."

This all connects with questions concerning the San-Ti and their management of know-how on Earth. Why don't they take over Earth's know-how 24/7? This powerful alien race took over every screen and device on the planet for a threatening message and skyward demonstration of may, yet then permit our TV broadcasts, internet feeds, and personal units to perform as normal — they might ship us proper back to the Dark Ages with a thought. Additionally, the San-Ti let the all-important Earthly defence strategy, the launch of Will's mind into area, proceed. Are the San-Ti not quite positive what they might get out of this, or are they detached? The answer to this one may lie in the book, which has a slightly more detailed explanation of what the sophons are capable of.

2. Will the San-Ti find Will's brain and can they rebuild him?

</div>

In the major sacrifice of the season, Will signed his mind over to Jin's sadly failed Undertaking Staircase (however refused to pledge allegiance to humanity itself). Sadly, through the mission, one of the cables retaining the area sail in place detached and the probe, with Will's brain inside it, was sent astray, now doomed to drift via area. But will the capsule ultimately reach its vacation spot, intercepting the San-Ti? And can they do precisely because the scientists anticipate them to do with their advanced know-how: rebuild him in some type? Solely time and area will tell.

three. What is going to Saul provide you with to save lots of the world?

</div>

In what may be probably the most "no strain!" job ever, Saul was made a wallfacer in the finale of Season 1, putting a goal on his again and the destiny of the world in his arms with no restrictions. But the thing is, he is not allowed to discuss his plans, write them down, or use any form of know-how to understand a technique to save lots of humanity — the whole lot should happen inside the recesses of his mind. If you want to know why Saul is chosen, it's all hidden in this scene. But what is going to he provide you with? We're given a clue as to how Saul might strategy his planning within the finale, when Detective Da Shi (Benedict Wong) takes Saul and Jin to see the insect inhabitants booming — perhaps "bugs", because the San-Ti call Earthlings, have more power and resilience than they're given credit for. And keep in mind, there are two different wallfacers: distinguished veteran Professor Leyla Ariç (Salem Hadeed) and army historian Common Hou Boulin (Clem Cheung). What is going to they provide you with in their mind palaces?

four. What did Tatiana see within the recreation?

</div>

Within the finale, we see Earth-Trisolaris Organization member Tatiana in hiding, dwelling relatively off-grid in the woods, following the raid on the alien-worshipping group in London. In episode 7, Tatiana is contacted by the San-Ti via her TV set, and advised she's not accomplished yet. Within the finale, coming back from her Tesco grocery shop, she finds her door open and a VR headset together with her identify branded on it awaiting her inside, with a card studying, "If certainly one of us survives, we all survive." It is the first time we have seen Tatiana put the headset on herself, though she is aware of very properly what to expect for players. However what precisely do the San-Ti need to present Tatiana? Is she being requested to rehydrate the plenty like other players, or is there one thing extra the alien race needs to temporary her on?

5. Will Auggie return or will she stay atoning for Panama?

</div>

Following the Panama Canal nanofibre ship massacre in episode 5, Auggie hasn't been doing great. The first time her personal groundbreaking know-how was deployed at scale, it was used as a slicing weapon towards a literal boatload of individuals, including youngsters, caught up within the assault on Evans' ship Judgment Day. Auggie did stick round lengthy enough to look after Will during his last weeks and joined Wade's challenge to assist her greatest pal Jin create an area sail for the probe to soar by means of the universe, but when Will's brain is signed over for the undertaking, she packs up and leaves. In the finale, we see her helping a group beset by dysentery to filter water using her nanotechnology. It is clear she's on a mission to atone for Judgment Day, however will she keep there? Or will she ultimately return to help Saul and Jin provide you with a solution to shield the planet?

6. Who's Wade, really, and what is going to he do after the San-Ti menace?

</div>

Leading the army response to the San-Ti, Thomas Wade (Liam Cunningham) is sort of the mysterious one, with separate plans to develop hibernation know-how to be present when the San-Ti arrive in 400 years. It is not likely made clear who Wade studies to — in episode 1, Da Shi explains Wade's managers as "governments...most of them" however in episode 5, Auggie factors out that no one actually knows who Wade works for. All we do know is he runs the Black Palace, the headquarters of the Strategic Intelligence Company (SIA) in London — an agency that does not exist past the story, however looks like a play on the UK's Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) and the Central Intelligence Company (CIA).

Within the finale, Wade is instantly threatened by the San-Ti during his flight, when the aliens reduce the know-how of his aircraft and converse by way of the aircraft's screens. "We hope to satisfy you if your hibernation know-how works," the San-Ti tells Wade, praising him as a robust chief. "We would like you to know there will probably be a spot for you once we arrive. You're part of our plan." However Wade's conversation with the San-Ti turns dark when he all of the sudden sees his personal countdown and the warrior appears in his personal area and terrifies him with a vision of Wade with gouged-out eyes. What do the San-Ti want from their incessant enemy?

7. What occurred to the moon base plans?

</div>

Keep in mind in episode 6, when Wade made reference to the truth that Earth was constructing a base on the moon? We're keen to see what occurred to that, and whether we'll see a moon base in Season 2. Wade tells Raj Varma (Saamer Usmani) the plan is to build a base on the lava plain Mare Imbrium in an enormous crater, the place larger ships shall be assembled, prepared for the San-Ti's 1000-strong fleet.

8. What do the aliens truly appear to be?

Mashable's Sam Haysom dug into this one.
