Rowtor Rocks in Derbyshire lies tucked away within the limestone cliffs and forgotten railway strains.

The fascinating cave complicated close to Birchover boasts breathtaking views of the nationwide park.

Hikers can access the world via a labyrinth of natural and manmade caves.

But individuals are urged to be cautious particularly if accompanied by youngsters as the world is rugged and dotted with steep drops.

Once you've ascended the rocky path, intricate symbols look like etched in to the stones.

Many rocks have been carved with symbols and footage – including serpents, circles and cups.

A set of stiff steps, thrones and altars can be seen in numerous places.

Although the origins of the ancient-looking carvings remain a thriller, they're believed to be handwork of local Reverend Thomas Eyre.

He is rumoured to be a training Druid who carried out his mystical ceremonies in the space.

Reverend Eyre carved the symbols into the rocks in the late 18th century.

He was a member of the Historic Order of Druids – which was shaped in 1781 – that used to satisfy regionally at the Druid Inn.

Dozens of people that ventured into Rowtor Rocks shared their experiences on social media.

Taking to TripAdvisor one stated: "It will be terrifying to take young youngsters here with out proper and fixed supervision, however they might just like it!

"It's so thrilling, with a discovery round each corner, but in addition more than likely a precipice, so you've got been warned."

One other added: "Not a very good place to take youngsters or when you've got walking climbing disabilities however if you would like peace and tranquillity that is perfect."

Praising the spot, a third wrote: "Lovely hidden treasure. We have been the one individuals around at all that morning, which really made it even more pleasurable and added to the environment."

It comes as a network of centuries old man-made caves has been found "accidentally".

Explorers and historians can't clarify the buildings discovered in the small town of Royston, in& Cambridgeshire.
